RIB - Ewing's sarcoma

Description
The specimen shows a tumour, nodular in outline and with a haemorrhagic cut surface. The tumour is arising in a rib.
History
This lesion came from a 12-year-old boy who was admitted with a short history of right-sided pleuritic pain, which was mild, constant, and exacerbated by deep breathing and coughing. Examination showed a blood-stained pleural effusion on the right and the tumour was resected. He was treated with chemotherapy, and two years later he is well.
